September 2020 has seen the exciting announcement that Libertatem Healthcare Group has adopted the spinal injury association as it’s official charity partner.
The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) is the leading source of support and advice for people affected by spinal cord injury (SCI), and for over 40 years they have been working to help people who have sustained an injury to lead fulfilled, independent lives.
On average, someone sustains a spinal cord injury every four hours in the UK, meaning that over the course of this year around 2,500 people will be diagnosed with an SCI; there are around 50,000 spinal cord injured people currently living in the UK.
Their services include Advice and Advocacy for SCI people facing issues of inequality or requiring guidance on care package applications and appeals, a Support Network of SCI people providing peer-to-peer sessions, and Spinal Cord Injury Nursing Specialists supporting patients with clinical issues and providing training to Health and Social Care Practitioners.
Payroll Aid – Employee Scheme
Throughout the coming years we will be holding several fundraising events for our chosen charity as well as introducing our payroll aid scheme where our workforce can choose to have £1.00 per week voluntarily deducted from the wages at source and Libertatem will pass this onto the SIA each month.
The SIA want to be there for everyone who is impacted by a spinal cord injury, and as they don’t receive any government grants, their work is entirely funded by voluntary donations.
You can find out more about them and their work on their website here https://www.spinal.co.uk/
On Wednesday 16th September, the Head Office team at Libertatem Healthcare Group will be holding a first fundraising day in aid of the SIA.
We will be undertaking a spin relay covering 166 miles with the proposed route taking us from our Head Office in Wokingham up to Daventry and cycling (virtually) past the Head Office of Bush & Company and SIA Case Management (did you know across the UK, SIA Case Management, has over 30 SCI Specialist Case Managers working with Children and Adults with catastrophic injuries?). We will then be cycling on from there to the Head Office of the Spinal Injury Association, before completing the round route back at our Head Office in Wokingham.
All the office team at Libertatem Healthcare will take part and the distance will be covered in a relay.

Fantastic well done to all those that took part in the charity cycle day, we raised a massive £2,500 for a very worthwhile charity, please look out for more events later in the year.
